Transformers 1985 Series 2 Autobot Cars

Transformers Series 2 Autobot Cars

In 1985 Hasbro Launched a new batch of cars for the series 2 lineup. This series would have retools in it as well as new figures we had not seen in the Transformer lineup yet. All 7 would come from the Diaclone series from Takara.

Smokescreen was used straight from Takara’s Car Robo Fairlady Racing Type. He shares his mold with Bluestreak and Prowl. Spoilers were added to give him that race car feel.

Tracks was used from the Diaclone line. Now Blue for the first time. This sporty Corvette has an Autobot embraced emblem on the hood. Tracks does not share his mold with any series 1 cars. He was a new figure altogether for 1985.

Hoist also used from Takara’s Diaclone Line. They went with the green color. The stickers are changed a tad. He shares his mold with Trailbreaker. The camper was removed and a towing hoist was added.

Red Alert Was also brought over from the Diaclone Line. Keeping the white color he is now a Fire Chief Car instead of a police car. He shares his mold with Sideswipe.

Skids came from the Diaclone line. Hasbro went with the blue color for him. Much smaller than the rest of the 1985 cars he is still one of the harder to find cars from this line up. He didn’t get much screen time in the cartoon. The figure lost the scooter that he came with in the Diaclone line. He does not share his mold with any series 1 car.

Inferno came from the Diaclone Lineup. His color stayed the same. He had a few tweaks to his mold. He lost some chrome and a Fuso/ Mitsubishi emblem on his grill. He shares his mold with Grapple. The ladder is replaced with a crane.

Grapple also Came from the Diaclone Lineup. His colors stayed the same.  He also lost some chrome and a Fuso/Mitsubishi emblem on his grill. He shares his mold with Inferno. His crane is replaced by a ladder. He also loses the hoses.

Shown below are very nice examples of all 6 figures together. They are all tape sealed and AFA graded.
